Got a dev setup going for the work project using VS Code.
Switching to the 2015 MBP because I need to be on the VPN most of today.
Fire up VS Code.
Uh.
Might want to stick with nvim and tmux until I can upgrade this thing.

what have we as an industry done?
We let Electron live. There are quicker JS desktop runtimes out there.
And I think the really real problem is we haven’t come up with a simple label that hybrid state between editor and IDE.
We still have great text editors (vim, nano, micro, sublime, notepad++). We got some great IDEs, or some I’m told. Then there’s that highly extensible middle ground (neovim, emacs, spacemacs, vs code, textadept).

Who am I kidding? I reinstall entire operating systems because I don’t like the shade of blue on a desktop icon.

@yojimbo @lordbowlich Similar, though I have no idea about the olden times. I know why on the strict rules, I just wish some of the processes were updated for pandemic times.
I can reimage my work laptop or any blessed hardware with an officially approved Linux distro, but that has to be done in-office. VPN doesn’t cut it.
No idea where the nearest office is. I’m near Seattle. My manager’s in Ottawa.
