Learned that in Crying Suns you can shoot your own ships, so should maybe be careful.

Before I get too incredulous about how my five year old MBP is more useful for work than my Win/Lin desktop with 40GB RAM etc etc I must remind myself it’s mostly because work lets me connect the MBP to the borg but the desktop is forbidden.

Ah. Hm. Either Zola does not do frontmatter cascading or there’s a trick I don’t know yet.

But I’m not liking the prospect of tweaking _index.md files for twenty years worth of monthly summary folders.

Watching “Tortilla Soup” which is a favorite, or rather a favorite remake of a favorite.

Tried a clever solution last week.

Tearing it out today.

Sometimes we need to relearn important lessons.

@jens I’m not entirely sure. Sludgy but dancy? I was playing a “sludge metal” playlist and saw a related “sludge” playlist that included Grimes and Poppy. Played that and liked it.

Starting to get the banter down for calling in my prescription. Gotta do it every single month for the rest of my life, so I might as well get comfortable.

The laws are still stupid BTW.

hackers.town: 2020-10-01 Thu 13:46

Switching from the sludge metal playlist to the sludge pop playlist because I like variety.

Sometimes I’ve been enjoying Robot Framework, and there’s today where my main thought is “It’s like if AppleScript and Python had a clandestine rendezvous in a back alley that they hid from everyone in shame.”

@_1751015 @egret @zpojqwfejwfhiunz ooh i hadn’t seen that one before. I think it’s been more than 3 months since the last time I thought about it.

I’ll be following that one for sure. Thanks!

I know this is an important election but I have my first shot at a few hours of free time since Sep 4 and I’m not gonna waste it watching old people argue about who’s cool enough to decide if my country lives or dies.

Very nearly got to bed at a reasonable hour. But then the library I’d switched to wouldn’t work on the production box.

I’d switch to containers but I better make sure those work on prod first.

Amused to see my purchase history on Apress. I don’t go there often, but it seems I can be drawn in by a favorite subject. #rakulang

I’ve always felt old that’s just part of my brain.

But there’s a different kind of feeling old where not only are there kids who don’t remember your pivotal world events directly, they’re adults that had children who are adults that never heard of it.

Hyperfocus is not your friend, no matter how charming it may be. Sometimes even useful!

Okay, maybe frenemy.

Anyways the whole damn feature is implemented and deployed and I’m going to bed.

hackers.town: 2020-09-26 Sat 15:23

Explicitly relaxed for the first part of my day rather than sit at the keyboard and try to will myself into usefulness.

hackers.town: 2020-09-26 Sat 15:47

amdgpu-install complained at me, but OTOH I don’t see tearing and flickering on my monitor now. Either it worked or I’m going blind. I’ll call it a win either way.
