@jamie Oh heck that’s sweet!

Some incentive to play with Crystal more, that’s for sure. Is there a repo? I’ve been curious about playing at a Polars binding.

Just because you woke me up at 4:15 to pee doesn’t mean any of you are getting breakfast at 4:30.

hackers.town: 2024-06-06 Thu 04:49

4:45 update: the cats say “fine we’ll just keep screaming until whenever you decide breakfast time is for the dogs and us.”

@lapis @gannet Planet Crafter has been my go-to for that feel, though it’s not particularly cozy in early game while you worry about oxygen, sustenance, and meteors.

I also got a lot of cozy mileage out of Moonglow Bay and Sable.

Foundry and Lightyear Frontier are on my wishlist, but I can’t vouch for the actual play experience. They sound right though.

According to Discord, #Valheim is coming to macOS June 10.

And I was being so productive.

Wasn’t familiar with this generation Jones thing but yep that fits my mom and most of her peers better than the broader Boomer tag.

Course as gen-x I am duty-bound to mention that generational tags are a lie for marketing and alienation. But having too many to be convenient is almost as good as having none at all. Go team Generation Jones!

@ovid I’m doing more of a mix and match approach. For one thing, I haven’t clicked with ChatGPT, and I don’t have the budget for deep exploration of it. An existing Copilot subscription or Ollama are my primary options.

For another, my brain doesn’t work well with prompts yet. By the time I can articulate the question, that’s enough to get the shape of the solution in my head.

Cats have gotten comfortable enough in the new place to start checking the acoustics in each room.

Which – yay but can you wait a bit? It’s 6am, I’m still working on first coffee, and the reasonable people are trying to finish sleeping.

@celesteh What about including it as alt text? That’s been my workaround for longer or more complex code.

I don’t want mypy lecturing me about my test code, but looks like I should at least add conftest.py to the list. Getting some confusions that might be resolved with type checking.

@bitprophet Even better: because Bouncy Dog’s bladder alert goes off at 4:30-5:15am, this was the second walk of the day already.

@amd Well “dialogue” may be stretching it a little.

“Villager mumbles” and a directional indicator.

“Zombie groans” and a directional indicator.

Indicating the presence, source, and direction of a noise is the helpful bit.

Got strong clarity on how I want this chunk of my code to look, what I want it to do, and how to address at least one of the more obvious issues with that approach, when there’s about thirty far more urgent things to be done.
