@maddiefuzz Bonus points if you can avoid subtooting about Reddit comments.
Specific ones, not the general practice you’re describing. I often fail the test of not posting “WTF is this” about a Reddit comment or LinkedIn post.

One of those online code evaluation things that doesn’t show you all the test cases it ran.
Filing under “new ways to piss me off.”

Timed code eval during an interview and yeah I bombed that part but it was interesting because the fidgety part of my brain was tallying distractions compared to a normal work day or even a work crisis.

@woshilapin Not yet on Linux. Too many of my workflow tools assume a POSIX shell. Also, the shell itself is still pre 1.0. Breaking changes can and do occur with new releases.
But it’s convenient enough and stable enough overall that I set up a tmux hotkey to launch Nushell in a new window. Core environment variables get picked up from GNU Bash login, so my tools are generally happy.

@tshepang @mueggl yes indeed that is Nushell!

@woshilapin @mueggl Yep!

@mueggl @eyevanovich @woshilapin The Nushell book covers everything. I wrote a blog post last year looking at a couple of the #Nushell highlights for me personally.

Trying XFCE4 as my vanilla desktop for a bit.
Kinda boring, but that’s kinda the point.

@stefani yeah, still a little bit of iffiness in some situations (gaming generally) for me with the Nvidia card.

@overjord I have played one very short very doomed session of Zomboid. Someday I will work up the nerve to try again.

@AFresh1 I — I don’t remember! 2023 has been a very long year.
That flex schedule senior dev looks promising. Any referral information or process suggestions to keep in mind before I start clicking buttons?
hackers.town: 2023-09-15 Fri 09:14
@ogbog yes, and if folks want a quality single-column view reminiscent of ancient Twitter + wellness / accessibility options, they should try https://pinafore.social/

@AFresh1 Well code challenges are part of why I’ve been doing the Exercism stuff. I’ve done my deep breathing and accepted my lot.

#Unity doing the POS TOS thing is sure giving other game dev tools and frameworks a chance to shine.
Lots of fun stuff beyond the obvious (Godot and Unreal) in this video, with more in the comments.

For those who partake in Spotify: songs Clear Channel didn’t want their stations playing because of 9/11
in addition to these specific songs listed, rage against the machine was included with the note “all songs”

@thegibson I vaguely recall one of the local public radio stations making a point of playing songs from the list.
hackers.town: 2023-09-11 Mon 08:26
@thegibson thanks to a surge of Nu Metal, I was already not listening to the local “alternative” station, thus only heard about Clear Channel activities second-hand.
