Okay, going back and forth with ChatGPT to write a cover letter. I can see the value of LLMs for brainstorming. Very useful in that context.
Which gives me a deeper chill than just disregarding it completely. Kinda like Perl, you know? Great language, if you keep discipline and emphasize its strengths. Which I rarely saw in Perl code out in the wilds of production.
Tried a little #PixelArt and it was okay until I got fancy with copy and paste. Ah well. It’s all a learning process.

Every click in the AWS dashboard a little anxiety spike as I try to figure out whether this service is the one that’ll bump my bill from five cents to $1,500
@FerdiZ I enjoyed that more than I thought I would — I spend more time lamenting LinkedIn than musing about it. But yes those are some entertaining post highlights and a good perspective about playing up to your strengths.
Frames a nice question in my head about how I would use LinkedIn if I didn’t care about finding work there.

@FerdiZ @johnwehrle@mastodon.social well, a little bit of self-delusion is a necessary component of adopting any new platform. Look at the Mastodon boosters.
@luciano oh goodness yes that’s a familiar one as well. I have to be careful about breaking down a task with too much granularity, or or it goes from feeling like one giant ogre of a problem to a thousand papercuts.

Just reminding Gen Z that their parents knew what racism was 20 years ago. Heck we even had the Internet by that point. Do not attempt to use age as an excuse for why we said or allowed that fucked up thing.
@jefklak hm I need to double check that, because cover pics should be included in the RSS.

@joelle oh I like that.

Had a dream where someone described ChatGPT as like StackOverflow and the orange site had a baby and moved into your house, and I woke up in a cold sweat.

@shastao @Edent@mastodon.social I’m thinking it may be time to bring those redirects back.
@halcy kinda messes with the point of a versioned API.
hackers.town: 2023-04-23 Sun 10:55
@halcy Mastodon.py is indeed a nice layer. I’m just crabby because my syndication script that posts blog links here broke again last year. I haven’t bothered to fix it, since it’s the third or fourth time since 2019. Maybe I’ll fix it again this year?
hackers.town: 2023-04-23 Sun 10:59
@halcy It does, and to be perfectly honest the problem is probably that I accidentally dropped something from my .env file in my many OS reinstallations. I’ll check the automated posting part of that code and get back to you!
@chriscoyier okay, weekend CSS study review assignment aside, what’s the editor font?

@pdcawley@gizmomathboy kill or kidnap. I learned about the second possibility today as my second-best shooter was knocked unconscious and carried off-map by the raider.

@maddiefuzz I thought about tagging as #Cassandra instead. But I suppose a little context for the rest of the world is fair.

@jhilden@rysiek suddenly worried that it may be overly optimistic to worry about the Y2K38 bug – and more appropriate to worry whether we’ll make it that far.
