Read the funny thread and don’t miss the replies by Venezuelans.

Got a post I plan to finish up tomorrow, but first I need to manage sleeping tonight.

Tired enough to sleep, but hasn’t happened yet. Sideswiped by insomnia.

Relevant to our household and possibly a couple others.

After twenty-some years on Vim (mostly) I’m learning a couple digraphs.

-M for emdash. That’s handy.

@drwho Fine I joined. Useful and quiet, that’s my kind of social.

Er.

As much as I’ve been enjoying Windows it sure does crash more often than the Linux partition.

@thegibson I’M HELPING

hackers.town: 2020-04-06 Mon 12:00

Testing a hypothesis that my crashiness was Folding@Home GPU and Windows aesthetic features (ex: translucency) arguing with each other. Disabling the features, not the folding.

hackers.town: 2020-04-06 Mon 13:21

An hour and a half and nothing’s crashed, so I’m calling the hypothesis tentatively verified.

I mean yeah the whole thread, but this in particular. The details vary. They may not always be the biggest things in town, but everyone sure knows who they were.

@thegibson my vote was a coin toss, really. I lean marginally more to power in numbers for achieving meaningful tasks. But that’s already the net effect of the F@H project, so “Be Mighty” would have been valid too.

Me, as update script logs furiously past in terminal: “Yeah, I’m in Linux again.”

@IamMrsGeek: “Ok. I wasn’t sure why you’d left it.”

Seeing a lot of “this will change everything forever” about covid’s impact.

I’ve been through a few “this changes everything” moments and I’ve never seen anything as resilient as humanity’s urge to get back to business as usual, damn the consequences.

Look I don’t wanna say “sandwich meat is smarter than trump” because I understand the kind of savvy it takes to run a successful social media presence and I’ve seen the cheeto taint spray we’ve got for a commander in chief but

took a surprising amount of work to extract the useful link out of the tweet, rather than twitter’s shortener link
