Dawn sky over suburban housing development in the desert, with clouds tinted orange and violet by a sun still hidden behind mountains

I just spent a week being mad at Tailwind. Turns out? it me for not manually scanning deps. That 4.0.0-beta vite integration won’t get automatically updated to stable no matter how many times I run npm up.
@genehack even a good job is still a job sometimes.

At the TIAS / FAFO stage.

Every utility class I scrub out and replace with stylesheet declarations shrinks the CSS payload. Honestly not yet enough to make a difference on any but the most constrained connections. Not my primary motivation.
Still. Some random person visiting my site from a phone on two bars signal strength is gonna get page load a second quicker. When I’m done.

Cynicism is just growling a little when you roll over.
@deafferret@nicknisi I could probably back out of it slowly with @apply to stuff utility classes into an external stylesheet.

brain spark thanks to @deafferret this morning, and I’m restarting my refactor by stuffing at least the global Tailwind layout classes into a stylesheet with @apply

@IamMrsGeek billing in advance is the gift that keeps on taking.
@funkatron Nice! Yeah a workflow where I actually found it helpful was writing something (an idea or requirements summary), and prompting the LLM to ask clarifying questions.
It was just as exhausting as a regular human meeting, but way easier to keep participants on the agenda.

@funkatron the way I put it in an interview the other day is that the marketing materials have us trying to use LLMs to find answers, but I’ve found it more useful helping me find better questions.
@masukomi similar, and not exactly face-blind so it’s not that. But if I met her on the street and she wasn’t wearing a steak dress or giant spiky red hat, I would not recognize her.
Her appearance is distinctive enough that she falls outside the “blonde white lady singer” bucket, which somehow might make her harder to identify in various contexts?

@lmorchard@masukomi From her mannerisms in interviews and what-not I suspect if we were friends my brain would remember she’s an artist but the fact that her income-generating art is music would be a secondary tidbit that takes longer to pull up.
Wondering how long before and how much the current international fuckery will impact the exchange of FOSS between countries?
I really like #SiYuanNote. It’s from China. Code’s on GitHub and they have non-China servers for external users of their paid service.
Not something I’d think much about, beyond frustrations with existing sanction-based constraints. But we’re seeing that the current administration’s as xenophobic as it is transphobic. And the transphobia’s got them purging scientific data.
