@socketwench I’d have to look up how much Shadow DOM specifically is in use out there, but server-side rendering complicated the equation of who’s using what.
JSX and MDX are definitely in the category of custom tags, though. I’m using Astro components as a mostly-static templating language in MDX files, because scoped CSS is a delight.

@socketwench good news there’s also a couple tables for the residents with imposter syndrome.
@WuMargaret I got better rest than the night before, at least!

@m yes
Cartoon by Gahan Wilson with a crowd of people in ceremonial dress around an altar labeled “NOTHING”; a curious onlooker asks one of the participants “Is nothing sacred?”
Fell asleep around 1am. Woke up around 4:30am. Brain refusing to engage with the outside world. Understandable. But the day’s still there. Chop wood, carry water.

Seeing the panic-inducing fundraiser texts from Democrat-backing PACs and a) no I’m broke; and b) no they lined my trans and other underrepresented friends under the bus and you didn’t even give a Wonka “no. stop. don’t.”
Doing a thing with the Logseq HTTP API using logpysec in Python (because I am as the former kids say “Back On My Bullshit”) and I wonder if there’s a functional equivalent for what I’m doing in Go and there’s logseq-go for skipping the API and just reading the files.
@Wrewdison I probably should refuse them. Worst case I get the same outcome as when I do them.
Test anxiety is a chore.

Weird. The neighbor looks like a grown-ass adult – but the car with the “Daddy Trump” embossing, shelf-rattling speakers, and straight pipe exhaust suggest a toddler.
Maybe he’s borrowing it from his child.

@tangentnotes I know Obsidian treats it as a figure caption. That’s reasonable, though it does bump up against using it as descriptive alt text when publishing. Descriptive text and figure captions are only occasionally the same thing.
@carlton I will ponder. There’s still some experimentation I want to do with tweaking TW, and I don’t have a Web app in mind so my blog’s still the best bet there.

@mhoye There’s also the Carl Sagan “apple pie from scratch” problem in that okay sure you should audit your dependencies that makes sense on the face of it – let me know how the audit of your libraries, programming language, C binding, C compiler,, database, database extensions, operating system, kernel modules, hardware, datacenter facilities, and local and regional government goes.
@derickr@ramsey That’s exactly what I’d recommend most folks do.
My personal site’s always been the target of whatever job search skill building has been on my mind. Wouldn’t stop that habit now even if I had any money to make a different decision.

Gonna see if I can use Zen as my primary browser for a bit.

@sleepyfox I would say it uses Firefox’s engine, but it’s more accurate at this point to call it a wrapper around Firefox.
@cwebber I mean it would have been nice if they looked at anything but the title but hey time is limited and we gotta get our dated pop culture references in, so I guess something had to go.

Starbucks going back to requiring purchase to sit, reversing a policy that was only put in place after the 2018 arrest of two people of color, is just them looking at Meta etc and realizing 2025 is their chance to take the mask back off.
