Early on I spent a lot of time fussing about how to organize functions, methods, class names, constants, etc within a single file. “Does get_a go better near get_b or maybe set_a but what about …”

At some point I started lumping them together (functions go next to other functions, constants go next to other constants) and sorted the lump contents ASCIIbetically.

Some folks worry about the surveillance capitalism aspect and sure that’s valid, but poisoning our well by turning the Fediverse into a broadcast platform for Threads provides value for Meta as well. They can deprioritize improving Threads if they can make everything else suck too.

As a “clean as you go” person, I’m firmly of the opinion that tech debt tickets are a good way to ensure tech debt never gets cleaned up.

@feoh Even in the best case, they’ll have budgeted tech debt time, but that ends up with cleanup trickling along behind the pace of adding new work.

I’ve got two acceptable cases for long-form videos: Folding Ideas, and a ten hour loop of the badger song. Everything else better be under 45 minutes. Ideally under 30. If you can say it under 3 minutes I’ll probably subscribe.
