first tentative steps with a goroutine knocked export time from 1100ms to 784ms on the MBP (2200 ms -> 1400ms on Windows, 1400ms -> 960ms on Linux).
My brain hurts a little.
Was it worth it? For the current page count? On macOS not really. On Windows, yeah.
Considering the graph will only get more pages so hypothetically the benefit will increase over time, and I will want to run this export from whatever machine I’m sitting in front of, definitely.
I’ll get to goroutines and channels and whatnot, but the most valuable lesson I’ve learned so far in Go is “maybe everything doesn’t have to be in a regular expression.”

@jacobydave for my part in this specific thing, doing a lot of split / transform / join.

@gizmomathboy I continue to be interested, but unable to overcome my own hyperfixations and social anxieties (less about the group, more about being noisy in the office that is also the living room)
I rarely boost images without alt text, or sensitive material without a content warning / subject line. But I also rarely tell people to add alt text, content warnings, etc.
For one thing, I figure a dozen or more others will have that covered. For another, I’m no mod. I don’t need to throw down my rulebook for every passerby.
@baldur those always end up being my favorite photos, because they were capturing an exact moment. I can feel the awe, curiosity, or spark of “oh hey that’s cool.”

@baldur when I was a kid I sneakily filled an entire roll of film with odd-angled shots of our houseplants.
At the time my mom was very annoyed, but since then she’s told me there were some really good compositions in there that she wouldn’t have thought up on her own. Ended up using a few for her paintings.
@Remittancegirl@mills_lane@WuMargaret@perigrin@minego@gizmomathboy@Chanclatrix@genehack@Alice@semifor@fitzgepn@jacobydave what and leave all these wonderful people behind?

The cats are having a bit of excitement. Have nearly given themselves concussions several times.

My hummingbird impression left @IamMrsGeek at a loss for words.

I thought the default checker in Go for VS Code was being a little too generous.
Set up golangci-lint; enable all; disable deprecated; run report; get satisfyingly overwhelmed (“aagh so much! I knew it!”); decide to share; get overall picture with --show-stats; decide I can do better; make pretty with #Nushell
@bitcrush_io the trifecta of Milo Bloom, Michael Buckley, and Opus did a lot for my self-awareness and acceptance of said self.

@minego so many times I’ve missed messages from folks I care about because I get flooded by spam.

@CyberneticForests when I first thought about AI-generated music I saw two interesting paths for me personally: lo-fi sleepytime stuff for winding down, and experimental weirdness reminiscent of The Residents.
Looking at one of my ten year old notes with lots of links. Thought I’d check the links.
Obvious take: between link rot (404 and / or server gone), link misdirection (redirect to site home without a note), and plausible answer generators in search engines, we got a real memory hole problem here.

Sometimes the design thoughts are too free-floating for a “design document.” So I go to the whiteboard. Not one of those enterprise whiteboards with so much structure they break your flow. Heck no.
